FOR SMALL FARMERS WITH SUCCESS NEW VARIETY OF RICE PRESENTED TO THE COAST "INIA 510 - Mallare"


Strong resistance to pests and diseases and better adaptability to climate change are some of the strengths of the new variety of rice to the coast called "INIA 510 - Mallares" which was released by the National Institute for Agrarian Innovation (INIA) on December 17 at Station Experimental The Chira - Piura, in the presence of more than 300 farmers and producers in the Northern Region.

Participants in this event could be verified in the fields located at the Experimental Station El Chira, cultivation and development of new rice variety. In test plots, presentations were made by Dr. Carlos Bruzzone Córdova, Leader of the National Rice Program, who explained the process to obtain the variety Mallares, the same that emerged from the cross between the varieties INIA Huallaga "," IR 43 "and" Cypress "in 1994, later followed by intensive research in the various test plots to end with the official launch of the variety.

NEW VARIETY OF RICE FOR THE PERUVIAN COAST


Experimental Station View Florida National Institute for Agrarian Innovation (INIA), released a new variety of rice called "Mallares INIA 510. The ceremony is scheduled for release on Friday December 17 from 8:30 am at the Experimental Station El Chira - Piura (Km 1027 Carretera Sullana - Talara) and will be attended by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Directorate of Agriculture and officials of public and private institutions in the Macro Region.

In this event, farmers, producers and general public will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of this new variety of rice, including highlighting the tolerance to saline soils and health, also is more resistant to rot and false smut fungus that varieties IR 43 (NIR) and INIA 508 - Tinajones.

For his part, Dr. Carlos Bruzzone Córdova, National Program Leader, Rice added that the milling quality of INIA - 510 is more stable than that of IR 43. His production of whole grain on the stack is lower than Tinajones, but higher than IR 43, and translucency of grain (translated to a lesser% of grains in the presence of tizosas areas) is higher than the two named varieties.
