Experimental Station View Florida National Institute for Agrarian Innovation (INIA), released a new variety of rice called "Mallares INIA 510. The ceremony is scheduled for release on Friday December 17 from 8:30 am at the Experimental Station El Chira - Piura (Km 1027 Carretera Sullana - Talara) and will be attended by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Directorate of Agriculture and officials of public and private institutions in the Macro Region.
In this event, farmers, producers and general public will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of this new variety of rice, including highlighting the tolerance to saline soils and health, also is more resistant to rot and false smut fungus that varieties IR 43 (NIR) and INIA 508 - Tinajones.
For his part, Dr. Carlos Bruzzone Córdova, National Program Leader, Rice added that the milling quality of INIA - 510 is more stable than that of IR 43. His production of whole grain on the stack is lower than Tinajones, but higher than IR 43, and translucency of grain (translated to a lesser% of grains in the presence of tizosas areas) is higher than the two named varieties.
